Vivaldi's Hunt

0:37 the violin imitates the call of a hunting horn and is answered back by another hunting horn to signal that live game is found

0:52 the violinist rides side saddle and the hunt begins

1:37 gun shots / muskets are fired and the game is pursued

2:11 the violinists pluck their strings (pizzicato) – the sound of gunshots

2:16 violin bows as symbolic “arrows” sticking out on the back of the beast

2:32 the beasts flee as more gunshots and arrows etc are fired

2:39 the agony & cries of the fallen beast

3:01 the cadenza (a musical punctuation – a period) represents the (stylized) demise of the beast

The hunters at dawn go to the hunt,
with horns and guns and dogs they sally forth,
the beasts flee, their trail is followed.

IV
Already dismay'd and exhausted, from the great noise
of guns and dogs, threaten'd with wounds,
they flee, languishing, and die, cowering.]
